Biography:

A connection with Australia's more hectic days was severed by the death of Mr. Jack Noble, an aboriginal, of Pialba, which occurred early on Tuesday morning says the "Maryborough Chronicle." Mr. Noble was one of the black trackers who assisted the police in their efforts to track down the famous Kelly gang of bushrangers in Victoria and also assisted to track down a one-time tracker who had turned murderer, in the same State. Mr. Noble who was 80 years of age at the time of his death, was born at Sandy Cape, Fraser Island. He was taken from the island at the age of 14 or 15 years by the late Sergeant Thomas King, who took with him at the same time Mr. Willie Wundunna, who still resides at Pialba. Both these men were engaged as black trackers with the police and Mr. Noble later worked with the police in Victoria in their efforts to track down the notorious Kelly gang. He remained in the southern State until the gang was wiped out. At that time two natives, Gunembre and Booyal, were also engaged as trackers. They deserted some time later, however, and Booyal committed a murder at Dorra Dorra Creek, Victoria. He was tracked down by Mr. Noble in company with Sergeant King's brother, Mr. Nathaniel King.' (Morning Bulletin 18 January 1935, p12).
